£3700 goes to the Solly

It was a cold damp evening on 23rd January when Brethren from The Liverpool Mark Lodges accompanied the APGM Ian Nairn to one of the oldest & famous boxing clubs in Liverpool.

The Salisbury Amateur Boxing Club - 'The Solly' has a fine tradition of developing the boxing talents of many young men over the years - some of whom have gone on to become successful professional boxers
Their success has been built on the dedication & enthusiasm of many volunteers who willingly give of their time to help train those concerned and support the clubs fund raising activities to ensure it is able to continue it work with local youngsters.
"Members of the Mark Master Masons of West Lancashire present a cheque for £3700.00p to assist Salisbury Amateur Boxing Club (the Solly) in the purchase of new equipment to help maintain their fantastic sporting achievements and high principals at their popular club in Liverpool"
Those attending were able to see a group of 40 young boys and girls aged between 6 and 9 years involved in a training class under the watchful eyes of more senior members of the club - all clearly enjoying the session.

There were also able to enjoy a welcome from the more senior members of the club - several of whom had represented club & Country at their chosen sport

However, the main reason for the visit was to present Mr Alan Lynch of the club a cheque to the value of £3700.00p to be used for the purchase of equipment enabling the club to continue its work with the local young people.

Mr Lynch expressed his thanks on behalf of the members of the club who recognized the significant help that such a generous donation will make to the club and assured Ian that 'it was thankfully received and would be faithfully applied'
